What Is Fundamentals First?

Fundamentals First is the entry point into the Coach Deon Development System. Rather than rushing kids into competition, this class focuses on correct technique, confidence with the basketball, understanding spacing and movement, and learning in a way that feels achievable and fun.

Sessions are intentionally 45–60 minutes long, keeping young players engaged without overwhelming them. Parents often hear, “It’s already over?” — which is exactly the response we want.

What Players Will Learn

  • Ball control and coordination
  • Proper shooting habits and form
  • Passing, catching, and spacing basics
  • Movement without the ball
  • Confidence in a structured practice environment

Players are taught how to learn, not just what to do.

Who This Class Is For

  • New players just starting basketball
  • Beginners and developing players (ages 6–12)
  • Families looking for structure and accountability
  • Parents who want long-term development, not chaos

No prior experience is required.

Why Families Choose Coach Deon

Structure creates confidence.

Players are not thrown into random drills or unorganized play. Every class follows a consistent teaching rhythm that helps kids feel comfortable, build belief, and improve steadily over time.

This approach is why families continue from Fundamentals First into leagues, skill classes, and long-term development programs.

What Comes After This Class?

Fundamentals First is designed to lead somewhere. After this class, players are typically guided into the Young Ballers League (for game experience), continued skill development classes, or the next stage of the Coach Deon Development System.

Parents are never left guessing about next steps.
