Weekend Tournament Recap — Team Lex 2032 UA Rise Houston
This past weekend, Team Lex 2032 UA Rise Houston stepped onto the court at the Just Play Houston event, gaining valuable experience and identifying key areas for growth. Though the results didn’t end in our favor, the lessons learned will fuel our progress going forward.
Game 1 Recap
We started the day with a tough, competitive battle against Just Play Houston 11U. Our girls fought hard, keeping the game close until the final buzzer, ultimately falling 24-22. We saw encouraging signs with improved ball movement and defensive effort. With more focus on finishing plays and closing out tight games, we’ll turn these moments into wins.
Game 2 Recap
In our second game against Houston Hoops 6th grade, size and physicality became a factor. Their size visibly intimidated our girls, which altered how we played — causing hesitation and missed opportunities. The final score (34-14) didn’t reflect our true skill level. From a talent standpoint, we were right there — and in many areas, just as good or better. The difference was the mental hurdle. Overcoming intimidation and developing the confidence to stick to our game plan, regardless of the opponent’s size, will be a major focus moving forward.
Moving Forward
This weekend reinforced that our skill set is strong — now it’s about mental toughness, resilience, and belief in ourselves. We will continue building that mindset in practice, so when we step on the floor, no opponent will shake our confidence. The girls are learning that talent is only part of the equation; the heart and mental strength we bring will determine how far we go.
Proud of the progress and the effort. We’re on the right path — and we will continue to rise.
